This one has been blowing us away. The Rwanda Ibisi Mountain is a naturally processed coffee from the hills of Southern Rwanda, grown near the Nyungwe Forest, one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on the continent, and it shows in the cup.
The Ibisi Mountain washing station is run by farmer Bernard Uwitije, who pivoted to specialty processing in 2015 in partnership with Rwanda Trading Company. RTC has been building transparent, farmer-forward supply chains since 2009 and now handles around 25% of Rwanda's annual coffee export.
In the cup: a silky, elegant body with tart cherry, ripe apricot, and a juicy red-fruit brightness that lingers on the finish. It's the kind of African natural that converts skeptics.
Tasting notes: tart cherry, apricot, red fruit, silky body | Natural process | Light-medium roast | Best for: pour-over, AeroPress, drip
